No truth to Brady Tkachuk trade rumors out of Ottawa
When questioned about trade speculations regarding star forward Brady Tkachuk, general manager and president of hockey operations for the Ottawa Senators, Steve Staios, responded, “Complete B.S.” Over the weekend, Tkachuk’s name appeared out of nowhere on social media as a potential trade target, and for some reason, the conversation picked up pace.
To be clear, the Ottawa Senators have no plans to trade their star captain, as Pierre LeBrun stated in a recent piece for The Athletic. He talked with Staios, who stated, “We are creating this squad around Brady,” and dismissed the claims as completely untrue. Rare are his leadership qualities and distinct skill set. “There is just no merit to that,” he continued.
Trade rumors surrounding Tkachuk have been around for a while. Staios stated the same thing each time. that the Senators are not trying to advance the situation and that Tkachuk has not requested to be transferred, and that fans shouldn’t trust everything they hear. According to Staios, the reports originally arose in February. “He is everything to the company. And he, along with our core group of players, brings it every night. It just takes time and care to develop this group.
Why Are These Rumors Always Ahead of Us?
The Ottawa Senators have not yet achieved the degree of success their supporters would have thought possible. There was hope that they would make the playoffs because they had a strong youthful core and had added several important players in subsequent offseasons. They’re not. Now, it’s unclear exactly where the squad is going due to speculations of more changes, including a new coach, management group, and ownership.
Tkachuk is an intense man. His goal is to triumph. Some are wondering how long it will take for frustration to explode in Ottawa since it isn’t occurring there. Under his current contract, he will play for four more seasons at a cost of $8.2 million each. The Senators could probably deal him if they so desired. Additionally, if both parties wish to move on, a transaction sooner rather than later appears more likely given that he won’t have trade protection in his contract until the 2025–2026 season.
