“That is the problem” – Pundit reacts as Sunderland join Birmingham City in race for Liam Rosenior
Carlton Palmer, a former England midfielder, believes Liam Rosenior would make a wise addition to Sunderland.
This occurs while the Black Cats, who fired manager Mick Beale in February, are still looking for a replacement hire.
Mike Dodds took over as interim manager of Sunderland until the conclusion of the season, although he didn’t have a great stint because the team finished the season very poorly.
The Black Cats struggled mightily to win any football games, and as a result, they finished the season with 56 points, 16th place, barely six points above the relegation zone.

So, their search for a new manager continues, and in recent days, the club has been linked with a move for former Hull City manager Liam Rosenior.
Carlton Palmer believes Liam Rosenior would be a good appointment for Sunderland
Here, we questioned Carlton Palmer, a former midfielder for Sheffield Wednesday, on reports that Sunderland is considering a move for Liam Rosenior.
Palmer thinks Rosenior would be a fantastic fit for Sunderland, but their position on backroom personnel and other issues might prevent them from acquiring the former Hull City manager.
“Sunderland are the latest club to be associated with Liam Rosenior,” he said to FLW.
Recently, Rosenior declined the Plymouth Argyle position. Hull fired him despite his outstanding performance, thus he will be in high demand.
Sunderland is still in search of a manager. Even now, Will Still’s appointment, which we all assumed would occur when he departed Reins, has not materialized. Thus, Liam Rosenior’s name has surfaced for the position.
“I don’t think Liam is in a position to go there and do what they want, which is to work with their workers, and he won’t be taking more than one employee with him.
Sunderland will need to bring Liam Rosenior’s team and work in his preferred manner if they hope to sign him.
The reason Sunderland hasn’t been able to appoint a manager up until now is because of the circumstances or the boundaries of the hierarchy’s desire to control the football team; no manager worth their salt would agree to work there.
Because of his work, Liam Rosenior would be an excellent addition to any football team. Because of his offensive football style, desire to play the game, and demeanor, he would make an excellent addition.
“Sunderland may say to Liam Rosenior, ‘You have a young manager who might be there for years, if we want to take the club ahead and we are seeking to get back into the Premier League.'”
If Sunderland can make this appointment work, it would be a fantastic one. However, they need to reconsider their future plans and strike a balance between the younger and more experienced players.
The latest in Sunderland’s search for a new manager
As previously stated, Sunderland’s top priority going into the summer is finding a new manager.
The Black Cats are seeking a new head coach, and a number of names have been associated with the position: Will Still, Paul Heckingbottom, Bo Svensson, and Danny Rohl.
But now Liam Rosenior is reportedly a target for Sunderland, so there’s a new player in the mix.
Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Rosenior is a player that Sunderland is interested in, and if a deal for another target falls through, they may try to move for the 39-year-old.
The Black Cats will, nevertheless, have to contend with competition for his signature. Nixon has revealed that Birmingham City is keeping a watch on Rosenior in case they need to schedule an appointment in light of Tony Mowbray’s situation.
Liam Rosenior would surely be keen on the Sunderland job
Although it is the fact that Liam Rosenior will be unemployed come summertime, the 39-year-old will be hopeful that a chance to return to management presents itself soon.
Given that the owner of Hull City wants to take a different route and is impressed with Rosenior’s brief tenure in management, it is unlikely that he will remain unemployed for very long.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that teams like Sunderland are considering hiring the 39-year-old given his strong playing background.
Considering Sunderland’s resources and football squad’s stature in relation to other Championship teams, Rosenior would undoubtedly love to be manager of a team like that.
The previous manager of Hull will undoubtedly choose to remain in the Championship, thus if Sunderland and Birmingham City were to face off, Sunderland would undoubtedly win.
