Why Scottie Scheffler’s caddie is leaving the PGA Championship

Scheffler was arrested on a highly-dramatic second day of the tournament on Friday

He eventually returned after being released and went on to enjoy a superb second round

But Scott will not be alongside him when he gets his third round underway at Valhalla

The caddie is flying back to Louisiana for his daughter’s high-school graduation

Scheffler spoke candidly about his harrowing experience just after his second round on Friday.

Scheffler revealed he was stretching in his jail cell to ensure he was ready for round two, despite his insistence that the entire affair was a “big misunderstanding.”

“To put it mildly, I was very rattled,” he said. “The cop that brought me to the jail was excellent; he was really kind.” We had a pleasant conversation in the ride, which somewhat eased my anxiety. As I waited to sort of enter, I said to him, “Hey, pardon me, could you just come? Would you mind spending a short while with me while I unwind?”

“I never felt angry.” I was merely stunned. I believe that the reason I was shaking the entire time was my body. I trembled for an hour. For me, it was undoubtedly a novel sensation. After he emerged, we had a pleasant conversation, and the jail’s officers were excellent.

When they realized who I was, what had happened, and how I got there, I believe a few of them cracked jokes. As I completed my fingerprints, an older cop gave me a suspicious look.

“So do you want the complete experience today?” he asks. I gave him a brief glance. “Oh, I don’t know how to answer that,” was my reaction. “Come on, guy, you want a sandwich?” he exclaims. “Sure, I’ll have a sandwich,” I replied. I still hadn’t had breakfast. Thus, they were truly benevolent.

Following the postponement of Friday’s second round of the PGA Championship due to a deadly accident close to the club, Scheffler’s event happened.

Amazing video captured him getting arrested, handcuffed, and escorted out by police.

Outside the golf course, a shuttle vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian. Scheffler was caught in a severe traffic back-up near Valhalla, although he was not a part of the accident.

Prior to starting his eagerly awaited press conference, Scheffler paid respects to the PGA Championship vendor, subsequently identified as John Mills, who lost his life after being struck by a bus at five in the morning on Friday.

Scheffler stated, “He’s going to the golf course one day to watch a tournament.” He’s no longer with us and a few moments later he’s trying to cross the street. My heart, you know, I feel bad for them even though I have no idea what they’re going through. I apologize.

Then, with a joke, he related the amazing tale of how he joked that it was a first for him to have spent the early hours of the morning “stretching in a jail cell.”

He said, “Man, I don’t really know… my head is still spinning.” I was simply quite perplexed by what was going on at the moment. I had no idea what was going on or what time it was.

There was a TV in the holding cell, so I could watch ESPN and see myself on the screen. I was kind of thinking about my tea time when I laid down and, once my heart rate had somewhat decreased, I began to stretch.
