The most recent information from the Championship as Sheffield Wednesday gets ready for a second-tier campaign

Sheffield The Owls’ promotion to the division last week has meant that Wednesday’s preparations for the 2024–25 Championship season have started. Danny Rohl’s team emerged from the bottom three in the later stages of the season thanks to a stellar run of play that saw Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town, and Rotherham United sent to League One.

The Owls finished in 20th place after winning their final three games. As The Star previously reported, Rohl has had constructive discussions over the club’s direction with Dejphon Chansiri, which means the team can prepare for another season in the second tier. After an outstanding season with the Owls, Rohl has already been linked to a move from Hillsborough. A lengthier contract for the German is a top objective this summer as his current one expires at the end of the following season.

A few teams have already revealed their retained lists for the upcoming season, indicating that other clubs have begun their preparations for the Championship. Bristol City is one of them; they have announced the departure of twelve players.

Following Andy King’s announcement of his retirement at the beginning of the month, Matty James, Andreas Weimann, and King were all discharged. While Weimann played 216 games and scored 51 goals for City, James made over 100 appearances for the Robins.

“The players leaving have all been tremendous servants to this club,” stated Liam Manning, the manager of the Robins. Each of them is a seasoned professional who has established themselves at Bristol City. I want the best for them in the future.

Following the completion of their contracts, Ben Acey, Zac Bell, Mac Boyd, Marlee Francois, Callum Hutton, Duncan Idehen, Dylan Kadji, Harry Leeson, and Harvey Wiles-Richards also left the Bristol group. Though talks for new contracts are still ongoing, Joe Williams and Romani Rowe are also without contracts.

Pearson “among favorites” for the position in Huddersfield

Nigel Pearson, a former Sheffield Wednesday player, is one of the people predicted to fill Huddersfield Town’s manager position. Relegated to League One, the Terriers ended 21st place, six points below Plymouth Argyle.
