Oklahoma State Showing Interest in Oklahoma Sooners Transfer Guard

Even while there may be peace on the court, competition may still heat up on the transfer portal.

Kaden Cooper, an Oklahoma transfer, is apparently of interest to Oklahoma State. Cooper and a number of other players joined the portal after spending a season in Norman, as Porter Moser attempts to restock the squad for the upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, the turbulent summer for the Sooners may help newly hired OSU coach Steve Lutz. While Virginia Tech, Tulsa, and Evansville have also expressed interest in Cooper, only OSU offers Cooper the chance to play in a major conference such as the Big 12 and remain near to home.

Although the Sooners and Cowboys did not make it to the NCAA Tournament the previous season, Norman was more disappointed. OU ended 20-12 and climbed as high as 7 in the AP poll.

But Cooper didn’t play a big role on the club that finished last season. With only 15 games played, the former four-star recruit averaged 1.5 points every 4.5 minutes.

Cooper only saw action of ten minutes or more four times in the previous season, and he was never given the chance to demonstrate his skills in Norman behind a well-established rotation. He finished the season with just nine points after scoring 13 points in his first two games.

Cooper performed at Ada High School and The Skill Factory in Georgia prior to attending OU. Cooper developed into a highly sought-after recruit during his prep and high school years.

Cooper, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard, is athletic and has the makings of a fantastic defender. Even if his offense needs work, playing under Lutz’s high-paced system with a focus on fast breaks would be ideal for his skill set.

In recent years, OSU has lost transfers from various sports to OU, but if Lutz can lure a former Sooner to Stillwater, he has a chance to change that.
