Exclusive: Sunderland, Cardiff & Birmingham City race to sign Sevilla star
Sunderland, Cardiff City, and Birmingham City are all vying to sign Sevilla forward Musa Drammeh on a free transfer, according to sources.
The 22-year-old, who currently plays for Sevilla’s B team, has attracted interest after helping them secure promotion to the third tier of Spanish football this season.
Sunderland had offers for Drammeh rejected in the January transfer window and are now joined by Championship rivals Birmingham and Cardiff in the race for his signature.
The Barcelona-born forward, who can operate as a striker or right winger, has turned down contract offers from Sevilla and is set to leave the club when his deal expires this summer.
Drammeh’s combination of power, pace, and versatility has caught the attention of multiple clubs, with Sunderland, Cardiff, and Birmingham all seeing him as a potential success in English football.
Drammeh has had an impressive season, contributing 10 goals and three assists in 30 appearances. Despite Sevilla’s attempts to extend his contract, he believes his chances of regular first-team football might be better elsewhere.
The transfer would represent a low-risk opportunity for any of the interested Championship sides, as Drammeh is available on a free transfer and is unlikely to demand high wages.
Sunderland will be eager to secure Musa Drammeh’s signature after their previous attempts to sign him in January were rebuffed. The Black Cats are keen to add the promising talent to their youthful squad at the Stadium of Light.
However, a battle for Drammeh’s signature is expected to unfold in the coming weeks, with Cardiff City and Birmingham City also vying to add him to their squads for the upcoming season.
