Report: 25-year-old who has never played for Nottingham Forest wanted by Hertha Berlin
Nottingham Forest’s signing of Josh Bowler has been one of the more peculiar transfers since their promotion to the Premier League. The winger was acquired from Blackpool in the summer of 2022 but was immediately loaned out to Olympiacos.
Currently on loan at Cardiff City, Bowler has shown his worth whenever he has managed to stay fit, proving to be a valuable addition to the Bluebirds’ squad. However, with the summer transfer window approaching, Bowler’s future at Forest seems uncertain, and he has attracted interest from various clubs.
One unexpected suitor is Hertha Berlin, who are reportedly monitoring Bowler as they aim to make a strong return to the Bundesliga next season. Although Hertha won’t secure promotion this season, they are keen to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign.
Bowler’s performances this season, with four goals and two assists, have caught the attention of potential suitors. While Cardiff would likely want to retain his services, a move abroad could be enticing for the player.
With Bowler’s contract at Forest set to expire in the summer, it seems highly unlikely that he will continue with the club. His situation highlights a costly mistake for Forest, as they invested in a player who hasn’t even played a single game for them.
As Forest reflect on their transfer decisions following their promotion to the Premier League, it’s crucial that they learn from such signings. With George Syrianos back in charge of transfers, the hope is that Forest can avoid similar mistakes in the future.
While Forest may have failed to make the most of Bowler’s talents, at 25 years old, the winger still has plenty of opportunities ahead of him beyond his time at Forest.
