Gary Rowett expressed disappointment with two contentious decisions that went against Birmingham City in their 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, which saw them drop into the relegation zone for the first time this season. Despite praising Leicester’s quality, Rowett highlighted Patson Daka’s offside position in the build-up to Leicester’s opener and felt that Wout Faes should have been sent off for a foul on Jay Stansfield.

Rowett believed that Daka was in an offside position when he received the ball, and Faes should have been shown a red card for a last-man foul on Stansfield. However, he acknowledged Leicester’s overall superiority and did not use the decisions as excuses for his team’s defeat.

Despite the disappointment of conceding a late goal to Stephy Mavididi, which sealed the win for Leicester, Rowett recognized the quality and energy of the opposition. He highlighted Leicester’s ability to stretch the pitch and create openings with their width and energy.

Rowett concluded by acknowledging the positives in Birmingham’s performance and emphasized the importance of being able to take something from the game, even if it was just a point, against a strong opponent like Leicester.
