Premier League Giants Are Linked With Former Coventry City Striker

According to a Mail Online source, Sporting Lisbon has revealed their asking price for in-form striker Viktor Gyokeres, who is attracting interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Since joining the Portuguese powerhouses, the former Coventry City player has been in incredible form, scoring 36 goals across all competitions.

During the international break, Gyokeres scored his sixth goal in 20 caps for Sweden. The Lisbon powerhouses have made the decision to profit from the goal scorer they reportedly paid the Sky Blues £20 million for.

Gyokeres is reportedly on Arsenal’s 10-man shortlist as they attempt to sign a large striker; Chelsea has reportedly seen the player three times thus far.

The seven-time European champion AC Milan has also been associated with interest in the London titans, who were first reported to be interested at the tail end of 2023.

Sporting has established an asking price of £68.5 million for the former Brighton and Hove Albion striker as a result of this interest. According to the article, Coventry will profit once again from a striker they paid the Seagulls almost £1 million for because of a 15% sell-on option.

The striker told Swedish media site Footballskanalen that he is at ease regarding his future, saying, “It’s an indication that I’ve played well.” But since it’s only conjecture, I don’t take it too seriously. It is, of course, enjoyable.

We’ll find out this summer. What will happen is not something I know about myself. I have a great time sport-ing and don’t worry about summer approaching too soon.

In their pursuit of a 20th Portuguese championship, the Lions are one point ahead of their rivals Benfica at the top of the Primeira Liga with a game to spare.

As the season approaches its final stretch, Gyokeres has led Sporting to the top of the league after getting off to a quick start in Portugal.

It’s doubtful whether either of the English teams will agree to pay the requested sum, especially Chelsea, who appears certain to miss out on playing in Europe the following season.

If the 15% sell-on clause is to be believed, Coventry City might be in line for a roughly £10 million payout to bolster their purchasing power for the upcoming season. If the Sweden international signs a deal, it could be big.
