The Pittsburgh Steelers are showing interest in Ferris State cornerback Shon Stephens ahead of the NFL draft. Stephens, who has played his entire college career at the Division II level, is catching the eye of the Steelers as they consider adding more family connections to their roster.

One notable family tie is Stephens’ cousin, Joey Porter Jr., who is currently a second-year cornerback for the Steelers. If Stephens were to join the team, they would become the third set of family members on the roster, following the Heyward and Herbig brothers.

Despite playing at the Division II level, Stephens has showcased impressive skills, including eight interceptions and a touchdown in the past season. At Michigan State’s Pro Day, he demonstrated his speed with a 40-yard dash time in the 4.3-second range and showcased strength with 19 reps on the bench press.

Given Pittsburgh’s need for young cornerback talent and their affinity for family connections, Stephens could be considered for added depth in the cornerback position. The Steelers see potential in having both Porter Jr. and Stephens in the same organization, especially with the presence of Porter Sr. nearby.
