2023 was supposed to be a breakout yearfor George Pickens in his second NFLseason. Instead, it’s been nothing but frustration for the mercurial wide receiver.

Sure, he’ll easily surpass his reception, yardage and (probably) touchdown totals from his rookie season, but he’s averaging under seven targets per game and his production has been inconsistent. Pickens will tell you that he doesn’t get the ball enough in advantageous situations and that the Steelers’ quarterback play has been subpar.

That would be true, yet Pickens will have to begin accepting some blame for his and the offense’s struggles. During Thursday Night Football, Pickens was shown visibly upset on the sidelines, which has become a bit of a Steelers wide receiver tradition.
