Steelers are now the favorites to land 49ers star.

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be the best option for trading for the 49ers’ leading receiver.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ ties to 49ers star wideout Brandon Aiyuk have grown even stronger since trade rumors resurfaced over the weekend.

According to Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, the Steelers are now favored to acquire San Francisco’s top pass-catcher in a trade. Pittsburgh is the favorite to be his next team at 2/1, followed by the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots (6/1), Arizona Cardinals (7/1) and Los Angeles Chargers (9/1).

The Steelers were reportedly interested in trading for 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk earlier this offseason, but San Francisco general manager John Lynch quickly shot that down at the NFL League Meetings last month.

However, trade rumors resurfaced recently, with NFL insider Benjamin Albright implying that a trade was imminent. Sources also informed All Steelers that they “would be surprised if it didn’t happen.” The Steelers would not pay top dollar for him, but for the right price, they would jump at the chance to add a true star to pair with George Pickens in the passing game.

Last season, Aiyuk set a career high of 1,342 receiving yards while also scoring seven touchdowns. He has 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns in his first four NFL seasons.
