Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, has been involved in a number of scandals over the years, including claims of sexual assault and a recent mandate to undergo a paternity test to ascertain whether he is the father of a 27-year-old woman. Unauthorized biographies of some of the NFL’s most recognizable players may now disclose new information about their personal lives.

Don Van Natta Jr., a senior writer for ESPN and a multi-award winning author of New York Times bestsellers, recently revealed that he will write a book about Jones called “The Star,” which will be published in 2026.

Simon & Schuster will publish the book, which will center on Jones’ life narrative and his journey to become an NFL owner. It will also concentrate on certain aspects of Jones’ life and career as an NFL owner that the team’s public face would prefer remain unreported.

“The son of a North Little Rock grocer, Jones invented—and played by—his own set of rules and went on to become one of the most influential and powerful figures in American sports from a risk-taking, almost broke oil wildcatter. I’m excited to be writing this book for Avid Reader Press because they understand that Jerry Jones’ incredible life story is the most compelling method to convey the tale of the National Football League’s incredible popularity.
