According to Belgian media source Sudinfo Sports, West Bromwich Albion has joined Leicester City, Bristol City, and Hull City in the competition for Huddersfield Town teenager Brahima Diarra.

The 20-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and it appears that he will be leaving John Smith’s Stadium. There is no indication that new terms have been reached, and during the winter transfer window, there were rumors the Terriers were prepared to sell the young player to avoid losing him for nothing.

There were high expectations for the offensive midfielder when he joined Huddersfield in 2019. Prior to receiving his first taste of regular first team football at Harrogate Town, he made his debut in 2020 at the tender age of seventeen. After joining the Sulphurites in the second half of the 2021–2022 season, he scored his first goal as a senior in a 3–1 loss against Crawley Town. But his season ended due to an ankle injury he sustained after just 10 League Two outings.

Since his time in Yorkshire, Diarra has played 44 games for Huddersfield and was called up to the under-23 Mali side. He will likely compete for his country in the next Olympic games in Paris.

Although a number of clubs have been keeping an eye on him over the previous few months, there may now be a rush to sign him before the season ends. Rumor has said that West Brom is eager to bolster its roster with youthful players. It is still possible for Carlos Corberan to lead his side to the Premier League, as the Baggies appear to be a strong value for a play-off position. Still, the playwright is receiving a lot of interest from other quarters.

Leicester is allegedly one of the parties involved. The fact that the Foxes have set their sights on the top division demonstrates that clubs believe this guy is capable of performing at the greatest level. The two are not alone, though; a number of teams from France, Belgium, and Portugal, as well as Hull and Bristol City, are also interested.

Additionally, according to the article, Diarra is eager to move on and take on a new task.

Unexpected as it may be, this is a setback for Huddersfield. The Terriers will play in League One football the following season, and Diarra will not be participating in that league given the caliber of teams that have expressed interest.

Nevertheless, he might turn out to be the one who escaped. Since Andre Breitenreiter’s appointment in February, he has only made two appearances, both of which occurred in the same month. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on this fight during the summer because it seems like it may be entertaining.
