Despite going back to training, West Brom winger Matt Phillips is anticipated to be sidelined this weekend, according to an Express & Star report.

West Brom will play Bristol City at home in their return to Championship action.

The 33-year-old Phillips is almost back to full strength after a recent hamstring ailment.

But according to the Express & Star’s most recent assessment on his condition, he is “likely” to miss out again against the Robins, with a return following the international break being more likely.

With 16 caps to his name, the Scotland international has been a respectable employee of the Midlands club since joining the Hawthorns roster in 2016.

With 16 of those appearances coming this season, he has made 245 appearances for the Baggies overall and scored 31 goals.

After attending the Wycombe Wanderers academy, Phillips made his debut in the first team at an early age. He also had stints at Blackpool and QPR.

As things stand, his contract with West Brom ends at the end of the current campaign, and he will become a free agent in June. Corberan’s team must make a significant choice that will affect his long-term prospects.
