Later today, Leeds United will travel to Coventry City for another pivotal game in their quest for promotion.

With the Sky Blues sitting just outside the top six and having promotion hopes of their own, they provide perhaps Leeds’ hardest remaining test.

Coventry had been in incredible form before their Easter Monday loss to Cardiff City. They had won four straight games across all competitions, including an FA Cup quarterfinal away at Wolves in the Premier League.

Leeds, however, cannot afford any mistakes at this point in the season because of the performance of teams elsewhere. Kieran McKenna, the manager of Suffolk Town, has stated that the caliber of play at the top is at its highest point ever.

Ipswich and Leicester City, however, could have their own “banana skin” matches. Ipswich plays at home against Norwich, while Leicester City hosts a struggling Birmingham team.

The 26-year-old will need to play at his peak for Leeds against the in-form £8 million Coventry star today.

Many important matches might decide the outcome today, but none more so than the one involving Cristiano Summerville and the right side of the Coventry defense four, considering how they were able to wear him down in the encounter at home.

But if Leeds are to win a crucial three points today, one player at the back will need to play at the top of his game.

Since signing on loan from Tottenham in the summer, Joe Rodon has performed admirably. Since the start of the New Year, he and Ethan Ampadu have formed a fantastic center-back partnership.

But with an eight million-pound striker named Ellis Simms looming, one of the league’s most in-form players, he might just need to play his greatest game yet.

After a sluggish start to his Coventry career, Simms has scored eight goals in his last five games across all competitions, demonstrating his obvious confidence at this point.

At this level, Rodon is more than just a physical match for anybody, but Simms is a player whose strength and pace are his main assets, so the Leeds defense will need to be at his maximum best to stop him.

Leeds XI to play Coventry tomorrow, as predicted

Whether or if Gruev is healthy enough to start will probably determine if Farke makes any changes from Monday’s victory over Hull City.

If so, there’s a good chance he’ll start right away given how much of a shock he’s been to see mopping up in front of the back four.In fact, by preventing Rodon from receiving the necessary assistance, he might be crucial in helping Rodon deal with Simms.

Archie Gray might play right back again if he returns, while Sam Byram looked excellent when he faced Jaden Philogene earlier this week.
