Stoke City boss delivers ‘not too far away’ verdict after fight back vs West Brom
Steven Schumacher expressed confidence that Stoke City are on the brink of becoming a formidable Championship team following their resilient performance against West Brom. Despite falling behind 2-0, Stoke showcased character and quality to secure a 2-2 draw, with goals from Million Manhoef and Andre Vidigal.
Schumacher emphasized that Stoke’s ability to create chances and dominate possession indicates promising underlying signs about their attacking processes. However, he acknowledged the need for greater clinicality in front of goal, an area the team is actively addressing.
The assistant manager stressed the importance of maintaining belief in their style of play and continuing to create scoring opportunities. He praised Million Manhoef for capitalizing on a crucial chance, highlighting the significance of players taking their opportunities.
Stoke’s recent performances, including another comeback draw following their previous result against Huddersfield, have contributed to their resurgence in form. Despite their position in 18th place, they have picked up 11 points from seven matches since late February, providing optimism for the remaining fixtures of the season.
Schumacher urged the players to remain positive and committed to improving, especially given the challenges of fighting relegation. He emphasized the importance of every match and the need to maintain a positive attitude and collective effort.
Looking ahead, Stoke face upcoming fixtures against Swansea, Sheffield Wednesday, and Plymouth Argyle, presenting opportunities to continue their positive momentum and climb further up the table.
