Bucks guard Patrick Beverley gets heated with a Pacers fan

At the conclusion of Thursday’s Game 6, Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley became enraged with Indiana Pacers supporters, according to a new allegation.

With little more than two minutes remaining in Thursday’s 120-98 victory against Indiana, TV cameras saw Beverley hurling a ball at a Pacers spectator, perhaps out of annoyance (see the video here). Lauren Merola, Shams Charania, and Eric Nehm of The Athletic said that during the Bucks’ break in huddle, the fan yelled, “Cancun… Cancun on 3,” which caused the situation to escalate.

Prior to that specific remark, sources did reveal that Beverley had received other expletives. There are reports that the Bucks guard threw the basketball at the fan twice, the second time after the fan gave it back to him.

The “Cancun” jab is quite subtle, and it does not look good if that is truly Beverley’s response. It’s unclear, though, what the other profanities aimed at him were about.

Beverley’s explanation is not likely to be of any interest to the NBA. A ban is very likely given how seriously the league regards altercations between fans and players.
