John Mousinho, the manager of Portsmouth, is a nominee for the League One Manager of the Month honor for the month of March.

Pompey went undefeated for the entire month, securing their position at the top of the division. Out of a possible fifteen points, they managed to secure three, all against their rivals for promotion, Peterborough United.

Portsmouth began the month at Fratton Park, defeating Oxford United 2-1 before holding Blackpool to a scoreless draw. After victories over Peterborough United and Burton Albion, Adams Park was the site of a 3-1 victory against Wycombe Wanderers on Good Friday.

He will have to defeat rivals Charlton Athletic, Lincoln City, and Derby County in order to earn the prize.

In five games, Charlton under Nathan Jones scored nine points. They drew with Northampton Town, Fleetwood Town, and Exeter City but won against Cheltenham Town and Carlisle United.

Michael Skubala is arguably Mousinho’s greatest adversary in the ward. The Imps won 5-1, 6-0, and 5-0 while scoring 13 points in five games, matching Pompey’s total.

Paul Warne led his team to five victories in six games, earning him 15 of a possible 18. Currently, the Rams are the team in the table closest to Pompey.

Not a single Pompey player made the cut. Two of the four players nominated are Charlton Athletic’s Alfie May and Derby County’s Ebou Adams. The other two nominees are Reading’s Sam Smith and Joe Taylor, a star of Lincoln City. In May, Taylor scored his first hat-trick as a senior.

Later this week, all eight nominees will learn their destiny. Don Goodman, Trevor Birch, and Ivor Davies make up the award’s judging panel.
