Michigan Prepares for ReliaQuest Bowl as Key Decisions Loom for 2025

Max Bredeson, a team captain, has played a crucial role in the success of Michigan’s football program in recent years.

TAMPA, FL – The Michigan Wolverines are set to cap off their 2024 football season on Tuesday when they take on Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl. While this season hasn’t gone as planned—ending with a 7-5 record—there’s plenty of optimism for the program as they look ahead to 2025.

One major storyline involves fullback Max Bredeson, a player Michigan is hoping will return next season. Bredeson often flies under the radar since he isn’t the one carrying the ball, but his contributions are undeniable. If you look at Michigan’s biggest running plays in recent years, chances are Bredeson was in the trenches, creating lanes for his teammates.

Right now, it’s unclear if he’ll suit up for the Wolverines again in 2025. Head coach Sherrone Moore made it clear how much Bredeson means to the team, both on and off the field.

“He’s the ultimate competitor, ultimate leader—everything you want in a captain,” Moore said during a press conference ahead of the bowl game. “He’s one of the most physical players in college football, and his leadership goes beyond the field. He makes sure the locker room is aligned and focused. I just can’t say enough about him. Whatever decision he makes, I’m excited for his future.”

Bredeson is one of several players Michigan is waiting to hear from as they finalize their roster for next season. His decision, along with others, is expected shortly after the ReliaQuest Bowl.
