Melbourne Storm
Melbourne Storm’s Director of Football, Frank Ponissi, made another audacious and insightful comment about the team’s performance.

Melbourne Storm’s Director of Football, Frank Ponissi, has expressed that he doesn’t think the team has consistently performed well this season. After an unexpected defeat to the St George Illawarra Dragons last weekend, the Storm bounced back with a victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Despite this, the Storm remain in contention for the minor premiership but will face a crucial match against the Penrith Panthers, their main rivals in the race, next weekend.
Ponissi, speaking on SEN 1170, mentioned that while the club is happy with their current position on the ladder, there is still room for improvement as they head into the final weeks of the season before the finals. He rated the club’s performance as a ‘7.5’.
“Obviously, we’re very pleased with our position on the ladder,” Ponissi said on SEN 1170 NRL Crunch Time.
“The way we’ve played and managed to win certain games, and how we’ve stayed competitive in every match—even the ones we’ve lost—reflects well on us. But we haven’t been consistently at our best, which is why we rate ourselves a 7.5.
“The positive aspect is that our best performances have come against the top teams. We’re hoping that the boys will rise to that level again on Thursday night.”
Many fans share this view, believing the Storm have exceeded expectations considering their form this season.
Coach Craig Bellamy has done an exceptional job with his Victorian-based team, guiding them to 16 wins from their 20 games despite a lengthy injury list. They currently hold a slim two-point lead over the Penrith Panthers, making next week’s game a critical showdown for the minor premiership.
