Ipswich Town wonderkid Silva Mexes is the most recent addition to Manchester United’s famed youth levels, and the club is apparently closing in on him. The Red Devils have a strong academy setup in order to guarantee that the next Kobbie Mainoo is in the making, even if they are frequently in the spotlight because of first-team transfers.

Additionally, Mexes seems ready to advance his development at Carrington beginning this summer after attracting the attention of Ipswich club scouts.

United is reportedly nearing the 14-year-old’s signing, according to The Secret Scout, a reliable source that young players and well-known journalists follow on social media.

When Mexes was a player for the Tractor Boys, he is said to have been observed by every heavyweight in the Premier League. But it appears like Old Trafford will be his final destination, possibly as early as this summer.

At Ipswich right now, United has a manager named Kieran McKenna who, following a spell as U18s manager, is one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s assistant coaches.

This season, he has welcomed Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams, both United academy graduates, to Portman Road. Mexes might ask each of them for tips on how to get inside M16.

Prior to signing, Tuanzebe made 37 senior games and spent time on loan at Aston Villa, Stoke City, and Napoli.

Williams, who is still under contract, was performing well while on loan in East Anglia before to sustaining an injury at the end of 2023 that ended his season and prevented him from playing again.

Just two of United’s 249 academy graduates, Williams and Tuanzebe, have made their senior debuts. Over the previous 85 years, United has put at least one of these players in the starting lineup for each matchday.

Omari Forson, who stepped in for Marcus Rashford during January’s 2-0 FA Cup victory against Wigan Athletic, became the most recent young talent to make his senior debut.

The honor of becoming the 250th academy talent to break through will go to the following graduate.

Mexes will come to Carrington with the same aspiration to be a Premier League player. Robert Earnshaw, the legendary EFL player, did that for Derby County and West Bromwich Albion.

The 42-year-old is the only player to have scored hat-tricks for his nation, the FA Cup, the League Cup, all three English Football League divisions, and the Premier League.

Mexes might get in touch with Kai Rooney, the son of another former Premier League star. Wayne Rooney’s son, who has apparently scored over 50 goals at United’s U14 level, is making an impression on coaches.
