CHICAGO WHITE SOX

Luis Robert Jr. breaks silence amid ongoing White Sox trade rumors

Luis Robert Jr., an outfielder with the Chicago White Sox, is attempting to limit his current concerns to those that he can manage. Before the MLB trade deadline, the White Sox are reportedly hoping to transfer him. While those speculations circulate, Robert maintains he is solely focused on baseball.

Through an interpreter, Robert Jr. stated, “Everyone has been contacting me, asking me about that, all those stories,” according to MLB.com. There’s nothing I can do about this. I have to continue playing baseball even if the team decides not to let me stay. I have to take the necessary action whether it is present or not.

Robert wants to get his squad out of this terrible funk. Chicago has the poorest road record in baseball, with a 17–50 record thus far this season.

Robert Jr’s season in Chicago

Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. (88) reacts after hitting a two-run home run against the Detroit Tigers during the first inning at Guaranteed Rate Field.

So far this season, Robert’s not having a fantastic one. The outfielder is having trouble at the plate, much like the majority of players on the team. As of Tuesday, Robert’s batting average was.192. He had only two hits in his previous five games combined. He has hit five home runs so far this season, and his totals should be significantly lower than they have been in the previous few years.

Additionally, Chicago looks certain to suffer its worst offensive season ever as a team. The squad is attempting to recover from a 2023 season that ended with 100 losses, but it appears that things could get worse this time around. With just five road victories overall, the squad has the worst road record in the league. The team once went through a 14-game losing run. It looks like the White Sox will end up with the worst run differential in MLB history.

These issues might be the reason Robert is leaving soon. According to rumors, the White Sox intend to sell him for many players, much like how the San Diego Padres did with Juan Soto in 2022. That was an eight-player transaction, and Chicago might make a similar trade this year.

I have only ever played for one team, and this is what I am aware of. I enjoy the supporters. The city appeals to me. It would be like starting over if you moved to a different team, Robert continued. “I am not ready for it,”

Additional White Sox problems

There are injuries affecting the White Sox as well. Eloy Jimenez and Tommy Pham are both sidelined and won’t be back until at least mid-June. The team appears a long way from being ready to compete with the best teams in the American League after hitting one obstacle after another. Maybe Robert is placing all the responsibility on himself to come through every night and save this team.

However, the club is not changing its management in an abrupt manner. Despite the issues, it is unlikely that the team will remove manager Pedro Grifol in the middle of the season. But Grifol has come under criticism from a number of pundits and supporters, including former manager Ozzie Guillen.

When the White Sox play the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, they aim to win. The pitching starts at 9:40 Eastern. Without a doubt, Robert will exert every effort to support his club.
