The experienced defender assumed the captain’s armband in the absence of sidelined skipper Sean Morrison during last weekend’s home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, a South Yorkshire rival.

Unfortunately, the 37-year-old sustained an injury and had to be substituted after the interval in the derby clash. His availability for the upcoming match, which pits the league’s bottom-placed team against the ninth-ranked Sky Blues, is uncertain.

Rotherham boss Leam Richardson provided insight into the situation, stating, “Lee went down in the first half after a clash, and I think (Ike) Ugbo landed on his ankle and tibia/fibula. He kept it moving at halftime and wanted to carry on. Then he went into another challenge and felt he didn’t have the power to push off. It’s disappointing.”

Goalkeeper Viktor Johansson expressed hope for a turnaround in the Millers’ fortunes after a challenging Saturday evening following the 1-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday. Despite the disappointment, he emphasized the need for good performances to secure victories and acknowledged the importance of moving on from defeats.

On the injury front, Morrison, who suffered a calf problem at the Millers’ training complex, is unlikely to feature against Coventry. He underwent a scan, and Richardson refrained from providing a specific timeline for the center-half’s return.

The head coach is optimistic that Ollie Rathbone will clear all concussion protocols in time for the evening’s game. Rathbone had to miss the last two matches due to a head injury suffered on February 20 against Ipswich Town when he collided with an advertising board.

Rotherham, grappling with injuries, is facing a shortage of available players, to the extent that they might only be able to name seven substitutes against Wednesday.
