QPR
JUST IN: QPR ace emerges as ‘top’ summer target for Stoke City,
According to reporter John Percy on X, Stoke City is considering QPR defender Jake Clarke-Salter.
In an effort to strengthen their roster before the upcoming campaign, Stoke City is eager to entice the center-back to the Bet365 Stadium this summer. They just defeated Bristol City 4-0 on the penultimate day to finish in 17th place, six points above the drop zone.
The 26-year-old Clarke-Salter has been a vital member of QPR recently, making 33 appearances for the London team during the most recent campaign. Since his contract expires in June 2026, Marti Cifuentes’ team won’t be under any rush to cash in on him anytime soon until they receive an irresistible offer for his services.
He has emerged as a “priority target” for the Potters ahead of the forthcoming window, according to The Telegraph’s Percy, a social media journalist, in their most recent report on his status (see below).
Stoke City wants the QPR player
As they get ready for their first full season under the direction of former Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher, Stoke City has a busy few months ahead of them.
They might consider adding Clarke-Salter to their backfield in an effort to compete at a greater level the following season.
He has recently been linked to a few teams, therefore QPR may have to fight to hang onto him in the near future. The Sun has stated that Burnley, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Celtic, and Suffolk Town are all admirers.
Clarke-Salter was a regular for the Premier League giants at several different young levels after rising through Chelsea’s academy ranks. In his early career, he went on to play three times for their first squad. He also had loan stints away from Stamford Bridge to gain experience, playing for teams like Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Vitesse, Birmingham City, and Coventry City.
In 2022, he severed his relationship with the Blues permanently, and he has since moved to QPR.
The former England youth international has become one of the R’s most valuable assets, and they will do all in their can to cling onto him. In the previous season, he kept them up.
ambitious goal for Stoke City
If Stoke City could entice Clarke-Salter away from QPR, it would be a really bold move to get him.
He would greatly bolster the defensive unit of the Potters and has been a reliable player for the Hoops. But his exorbitant price tag and the desire of teams further up the football pyramid may make this a difficult deal to close.
If he were to leave the R’s anytime soon, it appears more likely that he would move up to the top tier rather than to a team in the same league.
