Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has refused to be drawn on Kadarius Toney‘s status for the Super Bowl after the wideout unleashed a social media rant about the confusion over his injury. The Chiefs face the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas on February 11 at Allegiant Stadium, but question remarks remain over whether Toney will be included on their roste

Toney has not been active for the Chiefs since their Week 15 game against the New England Patriots after picking up a hip injury. He missed the AFC Championship game after his partner also gave birth to their child on the weekend of the game.

The former New York Giant had taken to social media to reassure fans he wasn’t injured, despite the Chiefs‘ decision to deactivate him before the start of the game against the Baltimore Ravens.

But has Reid insisted there was no conspiracy involved in Toney’s absence from the team, as the head coach confirming he had heard his social media rant. The 65-year-old stopped short of giving a concrete answer on his inclusion

“Well, obviously he’s been on the injury report. That part is not made up by any means,” he told reporters. “He’s been working through some things, and he’ll be back out there.”

Asked if he would be chosen on Tuesday, Reid kept his cards close to his chest: “We’ll see. He’s been practicing. We’ll have to see if he’s up.

An apology from Kadarius Toney

Toney was asked about the rant on Instagram Live and suggested his comments were directed at New York Giants fans, not the Chiefs, before apologising for his outburst.

I never attacked the Chiefs, never said anything about the Chiefs,” Toney said, via ESPN. “Who I was referring to was the Giants fans and the people in my comments, my comment box, not even on my live recording, so you wouldn’t even know they were there.
