Quinn Ewers, the Texas Longhorns quarterback, was just 10 years old when the last EA Sports college football video game was released. Now, at almost 21, he’s vying for a spot on the cover of the upcoming installment, “College Football 25,” which caused a buzz on social media after its official announcement on Feb. 15. The game is set to release this summer and boasts features such as representation for all 134 FBS schools.

In a recent teaser tweet, EA Sports confirmed the inclusion of all FBS schools with the caption “They’re in the game.” Ewers, seizing the opportunity, posted a picture on his Instagram story with his name alongside the “College Football 25” logo, declaring, “I’m in the game.”

As one of the Heisman favorites for the upcoming season, Ewers’ standout performance has positioned him as a strong candidate for the coveted cover athlete spot. While the official cover reveal is pending, speculations suggest EA may opt for a current college football player rather than a former athlete like Heisman winner Jayden Daniels. Notable departing players such as Caleb Williams, Michael Penix Jr., and J.J. McCarthy are also contenders for the cover.

Speculation even extends to retired coach Nick Saban as a possible cover athlete, although this remains conjecture. Among current college football players, Ewers, Travis Hunter, or Shedeur Sanders are likely contenders for the cover athlete designation if EA decides to feature an active player.

Ewers’ impressive performance during the previous season, where he led the Longhorns to a Big 12 title and a spot in the College Football Playoff, further strengthens his case for the cover. Despite missing two games due to injury, Ewers demonstrated his prowess by completing 272 of 394 passes for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions, in addition to scoring five rushing touchdowns.
