Sheffield Wednesday are determined to keep hold of Josh Windass, despite Atlético Talleres’ continued interest in the forward. The League One club are understood to have snubbed a six-figure bid from the Argentinian side for Windass within the last 24 hours.

Sources have confirmed that the Owls do not want to cash in on one of their prized assets as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for automatic promotion next season. Wednesday manager Darren Moore is a big admirer of Windass’ qualities and views him as an integral part of his first team squad.

It remains to be seen whether Talleres will test the Owls’ resolve again and submit another bid. Talleres are managed by Pedro Caixinha, who knows Windass well from their time together at Glasgow Rangers.

The Portuguese boss and the club’s President Andrés Fassi spoke publicly about their interest in Windass last week. Reports in South America say Talleres want a quick resolution to the potential transfer to enable Windass to take part in this summer’s Copa Libertadores.

Windass, the son of former Hull City, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Bradford City forward Dean, has a year left to run of his Wednesday contract. But Yorkshire Live can reveal that the Owls have an option to extend Windass’ deal by a further 12 months.
