The way his team defeated Carlisle United’s meager threat to earn promotion pleased Derby County manager Paul Warne.

On the final day of the season, the Rams defeated Paul Simpson’s demoted Blues 2-0 to secure their spot in the Championship.

There was minimal danger to Derby’s ascent to glory, save perhaps a brief period in the first half.

And in the second half against the Cumbrians, Warne acknowledged that he did not experience many headaches.

In reference to Max Bird’s first goal in the fifth minute, he remarked, “We scored the first too early, bizarrely.”

“The crowd was jumping right away, but when [third-placed] Bolton scored, it seemed more like the boys were taking advantage of the moment than the actual game.”

The more we searched for an easy pass, the more difficult it appeared to be.

Carlisle had an advantage in set-pieces and other aspects of the game, but our defense held strong.

“I believe that when we’ve played at the edge, we’ve had our best performances. Towards the end, I didn’t feel threatened, therefore it felt handsome.

James Collins added to Bird’s opening goal at the hour mark, while Derby’s sturdy defense held United at bay.

Huge celebrations and a mass pitch invasion welcomed the game’s conclusion, signifying their advancement to second place in League One.

Warne was happy to cross the finish line with minimal anxiety, since Derby only needed one point to guarantee promotion.

Speaking on Rams TV, he expressed his relief, “I believe it’s fair to say.”

“We started the day in a really strong position, and you went to bed last night wondering, ‘Dare I dream?’ But the fact that we made it there…Really, it’s pride and relief.

“I give the boys credit for their character because, on occasion, that’s what wins games.

“We intended to take home the trophy this year, but we were unsuccessful last year. We attempted to score two points every game on average, which we accomplished, but we didn’t.
