ARSENAL
BREAKING: “Will leave”: Fabrizio Romano confirms that Arsenal are set to sell their £45m player.
The summer transfer window is nearly open, and Arsenal is expected to make several changes during this period.
The Gunners have been linked to a number of potential midfield and attacking targets.
In an interview with JD Football, Romano discussed Arsenal’s potential summer transfer plans, indicating that a new midfielder might join the team, and suggesting that Thomas Partey will leave the club to make way for this new addition.
Romano provided insights about Partey and Arsenal’s interest in a new midfielder, saying, “There are several players on the list. One player they’ve always appreciated is Douglas Luiz, but negotiating with Villa is never easy. They have several players lined up. There is a good chance they will bring in a new midfielder, Thomas will leave, Jorginho has extended.”
It appears to be Thomas Partey’s time to depart. While he has shown his quality at Arsenal, injuries have been a recurring issue. If Partey can’t stay fit, he’s occupying space in the squad and on the wage bill that could be better utilized elsewhere.
Partey is now over 30, and the reality is that Arsenal may need to let him go while he still has some resale value.
Of course, replacing Partey with a younger player of the same quality won’t be easy, but finding someone slightly more reliable shouldn’t be too difficult.
At times, Partey was fantastic for Arsenal, but as the saying goes, the best ability in football is availability. Unfortunately, Partey has repeatedly failed in that regard.
