After defeating Carlisle 2-0 to ensure their return to the second division, Derby County is now back in the Championship.

The Rams had the ideal start thanks to Max Bird’s rocket in the sixth minute; Paul Warne’s team only needed a point to ensure second place behind title-winner Portsmouth.

It was a suitable send-off for Bird, who has been with Derby since he was ten years old and is moving to Bristol City in the summer. Although Carlisle caused some difficulties for Derby, Collins’ volleyed goal following Sonny Bradley’s knockdown in the second half put the Rams in a dream come true.

Pride Park was ablaze with excitement as supporters surged onto the field at the final siren to celebrate their team’s first promotion since Billy Davies guided the Rams to the Premier League in 2007.
