Braves Secure Victory Over Philadelphia Behind Another Strong Performance by Chris Sale
Orlando Arcia’s 2-run home run provided the offensive spark as the Braves secured a victory, backed by strong pitching performances resulting in fifteen total strikeouts.
Starting on the mound, Chris Sale delivered a solid performance, showcasing a consistent fastball at 96-97 mph and an effective slider. Sale recorded five strikeouts over a little over two innings, allowing only three hits and two walks.
In the fourth inning, Aaron Bummer faced challenges as Jake Cave’s double and David Dahl’s single set the stage for the Phillies to take a 2-0 lead. The Braves responded in the home half of the inning, with Marcell Ozuna’s double setting up Forrest Wall’s RBI single.
Daysbel Hernandez and A.J. Minter continued the pitching excellence, with Hernandez striking out two in a perfect fifth and Minter retiring the side in order in the sixth.
The decisive moment came in the sixth inning when Jarred Kelenic’s walk set the stage for Orlando Arcia’s game-changing two-run home run, giving the Braves the lead.
Pitchers Pierce Johnson, Joe Jimenez, and Jonathan Hughes contributed scoreless innings in the seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively.
Despite managing just five hits, the Braves did enough to secure the win. Arcia finished the game 1-for-2 with a walk, while Marcell Ozuna continued his impressive spring, hitting .538 with a double in three at-bats.
Looking ahead, the Braves are set to face the Minnesota Twins on Monday, with AJ Smith-Shawver scheduled to start.
